MACOMB, IL -- A statewide, nonpartisan political organization is set to visit Western Illinois University to increase political awareness and activism among students and community members.

The event, hosted by WIU's Associated Students of Political Science, will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12 in Morgan Hall 312 on the WIU Macomb campus. The event is open free to the public.

According to the Reboot Illinois website (rebootillinois.com), the organization is dedicated to involving Illinois citizens in the state's political process and shedding light on its political situation through educational outreach and nonpartisan digital and social media messages. It focuses on key issues the state faces today, including state finances, the business climate and job market, schools and government accountability and transparency in Illinois.

"It really doesn't take all that much time or effort. If enough of us get back in the habit of doing it, we just might find we can be our own powerful, personal special interest," said Madeleine Doubek, the chief operator of Reboot Illinois. "We just might find we can improve Illinois and, therefore, our own futures and the futures of those who will live here long after we're gone."
