Janus to Serve as CAS Professor of the Day

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University alumna Linda E. Janus will serve as the College of Arts and Sciences' (CAS) Professor of the Day Friday, Nov. 15.

Janus, who received her bachelor's degree in history in 1970, will speak in two WIU history classes in addition to addressing students from the University's Women's Studies program.

Janus is a retired teacher and is a member of the CAS Advancement Advisory Board. She taught U.S. history, American Studies, Advanced Placement U.S. History, Senior Social Science Survey and U.S. Government for more than 32 years at Fremd High School.

During her last four years in teaching, Janus started a women's studies program at Fremd with the help of several other district teachers. She retired from teaching in 2003, but continued to work as a substitute teacher.

Janus received her master's degree in history from Northeastern Illinois University in 1991, and is currently a member of the Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault (NWCASA), where she served as board chair for the past four years.

In addition, Janus is active in Quester's, a group involved with history and antiques, serving as chapter president for four years. She is also active in her church as a deacon for missions, moderator and financial secretary.
