Shryock Obituary

MACOMB, IL – Retired Western Illinois University Department of Mathematics Chair and Professor A. Jerry Shryock passed away Sunday, May 18 in Macomb.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and private family services will be held at a later date.

Shryock came to WIU in 1955 after serving as a high school math teacher in Tremont (IL), an elementary school teacher in Fulton County and working at the Western Lab School. He retired from Western in 1994, having served as a professor and chair of the math department on numerous occasions.

He was also a past president and member of the board of directors of the Ilinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics and a board member for the Central Assocaition of Science and Mathematics Teachers.

After receiving his bachelor's degree from Bradley University in Peoria (IL), Shryock received his master's degree from Illinois State University and his doctoral degree from the University of Iowa.

Shryock is survived by his wife, Mary Lou and his children, Rick and Jeri.
