WIU's Intrieri Wins Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award

MACOMB, IL - A Western Illinois University Psychology Professor has been awarded the 2015 Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
Robert C. Intrieri, of Macomb, was one of 80 recipients nationwide to win the $500 prize. He will use the money to travel to the Gerontological Society of America conference in Orlando (FL).
"I am delighted to be a recipient of a 'Love of Learning' award," said Intrieri. "It is a true honor, for which I am very humbled."
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 and is the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Intrieri was initiated into the society in 2005.
Each year, the honor society inducts about 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni. There are Phi Kappa Phi chapters at more than 300 colleges and universities in North America and the Philippines.
Membership into Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation only, and is offered to the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students and 7.5 percent of second-term juniors. Facutly, professional staff and alumni who have received scholarly distinction also qualify.
The Love of Learning program, implemented in 2007, grants awards annually to support graduate and professional studies, doctoral dissertations, continuing education, career development and travel related to teaching and studies.
