Moms' Day April 2 at Western

MACOMB, IL - A wide variety of activities are planned as part of Western Illinois University's 2016 Moms' Day, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 2.

This year's schedule of events includes:

Seventh annual Donna Phillips Memorial 5K Fun Run/Dog Walk
Brophy Hall, east entrance
Saturday, April 2, 8:30 a.m.
$25 per racer. All pre-registered individuals will receive a race day t-shirt and gift. Late and day-of event registrants will receive a gift. Prizes will be given to winners in different categories for both the fun run and dog walk/run. Proceeds will benefit the WIU Department of Kinesiology and its student organizations at Western. Race packet pick-up begins at 8:30 a.m. in Brophy gymnasium, with the fun run beginning at 9:30 a.m., the dog run beginning at 9:35 a.m. and the dog walk beginning at 9:40 a.m. For more information, visit wiu.edu/donnaphillipsrun.

Big Pink Volleyball
Spencer Student Recreation Center
Saturday, April 2, 3-5 p.m.
Teams will be put together by the Recreation Center and require moms to participate. The event is free and registration is not required.

Wine and Silk Scarf Painting
WCI Arts Center, 25 East Side Square
Saturday, April 2, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Participants will create a beautiful, lightweight 100 percent silk summer scarf. All materials will be provided, including the use of an apron, but class members are welcome to bring a favorite foam or rubber stamp. Stamps will be provided in class as well. The class will be led by Art Time Out owner and workshop instructor Mary Schuytema. The fee is $40, which includes materials and snacks. Studio Show: "How I Learned to Drive"
Simpkins Theatre
Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2, 7:30 p.m.
A wildly funny, surprising and devastating tale of survival as seen through the lens of a troubling relationship between a young girl and an older man. "How I Learned to Drive" is the story of a woman who learns the rules of the road and life from behind the wheel. Admission is $5 at the door and WIU Students are free with valid student indentification.

University Union Bingo
Lamoine Room, University Union ground floor
Saturday, April 2, 7-9 p.m. The University Union Board presents Bingo, giving students and their moms a chance to compete for prizes.
