WIU Celebrating ROTC's 100th Anniversary

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of Military Science's will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ROTC program Wednesday, April 13 with a variety of events scheduled.

A reception will be held at 2 p.m. in the Horrabin Hall gym. A video presentation of ROTC history will be shown by Cadet Benjamin Meyers, a junior political science major from Plainfield (IL). Retired Lt. Col. Mark Larson, of Macomb, will also serve as a guest speaker at the event.

The event is open free to the public.

As part of the celebration, a benefit cookout for the Wounded Warrior Project will be held during the WIU vs. St. Ambrose baseball game at 4 p.m. in Alfred Boyer Stadium.

A case of ROTC memorabilia is also currently on display near the ROTC offices, outside Horrabin Hall, room 103.
