MACOMB, IL - Students and faculty from the Western Illinois University School of Nursing attended Student Nurse Political Action Day in Springfield on Tuesday, April 12.

The purpose of the event was to educate student nurses on issues in healthcare that may affect their nursing practice. This event also allows the students an opportunity to rally at the capitol for issues relevant to nursing.

The student nurses met with 93rd District State Representative Norine Hammond to discuss questions and concerns they have regarding the state budget impasse. They also discussed specific areas, such as rural healthcare, public health and higher education that are being directly impacted.
