Communication Sciences and Disorders Seeking Reaccreditation

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is seeking reaccreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA).

A meeting about the reaccreditation application will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 in Memorial Hall, room 208. The meeting is open to anyone with questions, comments or concerns about the application.

Those who would like to provide input about the reaccreditation, may do so by:

• Submitting written comments prior to the accreditation site visit in accordance with the procedures below.

• Attending and providing comments at the public meeting.

Comments about the department's education programs are due in the accreditation office no later than 15 days before the first day of the scheduled site visit. Comments received after that time will not be forwarded to the site visit team for consideration.

Comments provided must:

• Relate to a program's compliance with the published Standards for Accreditation of Graduate Education Program in Speech-Language Pathology in effect at the time comments are submitted (http://caa.asha.org/).

• Identify the specific program seeking candidacy, initial accreditation or reaccreditation with the CAA.

• Written testimony - including comments faxed or submitted as e-mail attachments - must include the commenter's name, address and telephone contact information and the commenter's relationship to the program in order for Accreditation staff to verify the source of the testimony.

Comments not meeting these requirements will not be considered, and the individual or group commenting will be so notified.

All comments must be signed and they should be submitted to the Accreditation Public Comment Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Blvd., #310, Rockville, MD 20850, by email at accreditation@asha.org, or by fax at (301) 296-8570.
