Social Entrepreneurship Salon Feb. 2: Local/Organic Foods Movement

MOLINE, IL -- Western Illinois University-Quad Cities will present "The Local/Organic Foods Movement" at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 as part of the WIU-QC Liberal Arts and Sciences Student Organization (LASSO) Social Entrepreneurship Salon Series.

The Feb. 2 presentation, which will be held in Riverfront Hall, rooms 103-104, will feature QC growers and distributors: Liz Hogan, QC Food Hub; Chris Gilbert, Gilbert's Grapes; Yvonne Villagomez, Freight House Farmers' Market; Veronica Skaradzinski, Hy-Vee; and Jared Lynn, Barley & Rye Bistro. The panel will discuss food production systems that promote healthy communities by bringing the producers and consumers closer together.

The Salon Series is open free to the campus community and general public.

According to WIU College of Art and Sciences Assistant Dean James Rabchuk, the series, presented by the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Business and Technology, is designed to bring together thinkers and practitioners to network and exchange ideas related to social entrepreneurship initiatives that serve the Quad Cities area.
