Winter Solstice Dance Concert December 5-7

MACOMB, IL - - University Dance Theatre (UDT) students at Western Illinois University will present their annual Winter Solstice Dance Concert Thursday, Dec. 5 through Saturday, Dec. 7 in the Browne Hall Hainline Theatre. Curtain time is 8 p.m. nightly.

The production will include six dances choreographed by students; four pieces created by faculty, including a traditional collaboration with Bridgeway clients; and a work by guest artist Nora Daniel. Student choreographers include Jenny Showalter, a senior physical education major from Aurora; Sarah Rawski, a senior recreation, park and tourism administration major from Arlington Heights; Kristine Schroeder, a senior Spanish major from Crystal Lake; Sara Parish, a junior physical education major from Jerseyville; Megan Duesterhaus, a senior sociology major from Quincy; and Kami Heckle, a junior individual studies major from Quincy.

Dances created by Showalter and UDT faculty co-director Candace Winters-March will be presented at the American College Dance Festival (ACDF) regional competition in March 2003.

Theatre professor Tim Kupka and several students will coordinate lighting design for the concert. Costume designers include theatre costumer Penny Shonberger and graduate theatre student April Deptula from Kenilworth.
Admission for the Winter Solstice Concert is $5 for adults; $3 for students and seniors; $2 for children between the ages of three and 12; and free for children under three years old. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information call 309-298-1707 or 298-1981.
