MACOMB, IL-- Matthew Collum, a graduate student at Western Illinois University, received two scholarships to attend the 2018 National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) Annual Conference and Campus Rec and Wellness Expo Sunday-Wednesday, March 4-7 in Denver, CO.

The NIRSA Scholarship will cover Collum's registration fee. He will also receive the J. Michael Dunn Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship is designed to inspire NIRSA student members to further their professional development by attending the J. Michael Dunn Student Professional Development Workshop at the Annual Conference Sunday, March 4.

"I will always be proud to say that I was a recipient of the NIRSA Foundation scholarship and J. Michael Dunn Endowed Scholarship (for professional development workshop)," said Collum. "It will enable me to continue my pursuit of becoming a campus recreation professional and furthered the already firm love that I have for the field and NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation."

Collum is a sport management graduate student who is expected to graduate in May 2019.

"I could not be happier," he said. "This year's conference (in Denver, Colorado), will be a time that I spend focusing on finding an internship that will complete my master's degree and hopefully lead to a job. I cannot wait to expand on the experiences that I have already had within the field and continue doing what I love."
