MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Associate Professor of English Everett Hamner will deliver "Editing the Soul: Science and Fiction in the Genome Age," at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 in Morgan Hall, 101A.

Hamner will talk about what it means to be a human being in the age of genetic engineering and how this and other questions are explored in contemporary literature, film, comics and television series – through fictional futures that might shape the decisions made about genetic engineering.

Brief responses will be offered by WIU Biological Science Professor Shawn Meagher and WIU English Professor Shazie Rahman.

The lecture is sponsored by WIU's departments of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Biological Sciences and English and the College of Arts and Sciences.
