MACOMB, IL -- The Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center will host "Women on Weights," Sunday, March 25 as part of Western Illinois University's celebration of Women's History Month.

The event runs from 10 a.m.-noon and admission is $5, payable at the door. Walk-ins are welcome and refreshments will be served. The event is open to women from the WIU and Macomb communities.

"Women on Weights" is an opportunity for women to participate in strength training classes and instructional workshops in the Campus Recreation weight rooms. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and snacks will be served at the beginning and end of the event, and will be accompanied by pre-workout and post-workout nutrition advice.

There will be five classes/workshops offered and attendees will be able to choose two. The options include:

• The Squat Clinic will only be offered during the first session, and the Deadlift Clinic will only be offered during the second session. These are excellent options for those who are familiar with weight training, but would like to learn more about heavy lifting or powerlifting.

• The Boot Camp Class will be offered during both the first and second sessions. This is a great option for those who want to get a great full-body workout using various strength and cardio techniques.

• The Intro to Free Weights and Intro to Weight Machines Workshops are geared toward those who are not comfortable with using the equipment contained in most weight rooms, and would like to become more familiar.
