MOLINE, IL -- Western Illinois University-Quad Cities will present "Repurposing Buildings: Renew Moline and Reader Area Development," at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 on the WIU-QC campus, 3300 River Drive.

This event is free and open to the public and will be held in Riverfront Hall rooms 103/104. Pizza and refreshments will be provided.

Presenters will include Alexandra Elias, CEO of Renew Moline, and Erik Reader, from Reader Area Development in Rock Island. They will speak about their commitment to reinvigorate the communities of Moline and Rock Island through strategic assessment and use of existing assets.

"Social entrepreneurship looks for sustainable ways to address chronic social needs," said James Rabchuk, assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. "One important mechanism for doing so is by identifying existing community resources and assets, and repurposing them to help meet the community's changing needs."

For more information, contact Rabchuk at (309) 762-7095, ext. 62352 or ja-rabchuk@wiu.edu; visit the Salon's web page; or follow the WIU QC Social Entrepreneurship Salon page.
