MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University students, Macomb community members and regional high school students will have a chance to think about summer next week as the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration hosts its annual Summer Camp Job Fair (SCJF) from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 in the University Union Grand Ballroom.

According to RPTA Assistant Professor Megan Owens the event is one of the largest camp job fairs in the country. This year, the SCJF will feature more than 45 camps from across the Midwest, and other locations in the U.S., with camp personnel recruiting students from all majors and disciplines for a variety of summer camp positions.

"Personnel from day and resident camps, including a large number from the Chicago area, will visit Western's campus to interact with students," said Owens. "Attending the fair provides students of various majors with employment possibilities and networking opportunities with camp directors. Individuals develop skills such as communication, leadership and problem-solving through collaboratively working with other people to put on high quality programs."

A list of camps with representatives who will be on campus is available at wiu.edu/coehs/rpta/scjf/.

For more information about the SCJF, contact Owens at (309) 298-1967 or by email at MH-Owens@wiu.edu.
