WIU's Virtual Morrow Lecture April 15

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – The University of Chicago Professor Neil Shubin will deliver Western Illinois University's virtual 2022 Morrow Lecture at 4 p.m. Friday, April 15.

Shubin is the Robert R. Bensley Distinguished Service Professor of Organismal Biology and Anatomy Committee on Genetics, Genomics and Systems Biology at The University of Chicago. His Morrow Lecture is titled, "Finding Your Inner Fish."

The lecture is hosted by the WIU Department of Biological Sciences and is part of WIU's Natural Sciences Research Day. The lecture can be accessed at wiu.zoom.us/j/94392488073.

In addition to the Morrow Lecture, Shubin will host a virtual seminar for faculty in WIU's Department of Biological Sciences at noon April 8, titled "Fossils, Genes and the Evolution of Limbs from Fins."

At The University of Chicago, Shubin is a senior advisor to the provost and an associate dean in the Biological Sciences Division.

The Roger and Jean Morrow Distinguished Lecture is funded through an endowment in honor of Roger M. Morrow, the first head of the WIU Department of Physics, and his wife, Jean, who was one of the University's first female faculty members in the WIU Department of Biological Sciences.
