MACOMB, IL – Students in Western Illinois University's Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration have designed Camp Rocky's Outdoor Olympics, a free day camp from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, for youth in first through fourth grades.

The Camp Rocky program has been provided for area youth for more than 15 years at WIU's Horn Field Campus, located at 985 China Road in Macomb. The camp is a lesson for WIU students in planning and providing a high-quality youth camp experience.

The day camp will include a variety of Olympic-style events, focused on unique outdoor activities, such as a climbing wall, nature hikes, crafts and group games.

"We're here to provide the youth of Macomb with a fun outdoor experience," said Hannah Johnson, an RPTA graduate student and Camp Rocky director. "Campers will even learn how to cook their lunch and snacks over a campfire."

Registration is limited to 20 campers, and registration can be completed at bit.ly/CampRocky.

For more information, contact Hannah Johnson at hn-johnson3@wiu.edu or Assistant Professor Megan Owens at mh-owens@wiu.edu.
