WIU Mourns Student Death

Update: Services for Lainie Mogensen will be held at 6 p.m. today (Oct. 24) at Cedar Memorial Chapel, with visitation beginning at 3 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at Lowe Park in Marion on Oct. 30.

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - The Western Illinois University community is saddened to learn of the death of WIU junior Lainie Mogensen, of Cedar Rapids, IA, who passed away Oct. 17.
Mogensen transferred to Western from Kirkwood Community College to study human resource management, and was currently on the acquisition team for Nordstrom. Over the last six year, she held several positions throughout the customer care team, she was striving to branch into the Human Resource team which aligned with her future career paths.
"We are incredibly saddened by the sudden loss of one of our students," said WIU President Guiyou Huang. "We extend our thoughts and sympathies to Lainie's family and friends."
Funeral and celebration of life details have not yet been released.
