Two Candidates to Interview for COEHS Dean at WIU

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Two candidates have been invited to interview for the position of dean in Western Illinois University's College of Education and Human Services and interviews will be held Tuesday-Wednesday, Feb. 14-15, and Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 27-28.

Those coming to campus for interviews include Paul E. Priester, founding director of the School of Interdisciplinary Health Professions at Northern Illinois University; and Oksana Grybovych, interim chief of staff for the Office of the President at the University of Northern Iowa.

Priester has been founding chair of the School of Interdisciplinary Health Professions at Northern Illinois University since 2019. Previously, he was chair of the Department of Counseling Psychology in the School of Professional Studies at North Park University in Chicago from 2008-19; an educational consultant II for CESA 1 in Brookfield, WI, from 2004-11; a grant coordinator for the Wisconsin Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Education Network from 2005-11; executive director of Compass Alliance at Nicolet High School in Glendale, WI, from 2007-09; Learn and Serve America Grant Coordinator for CESA 1 from 2005-06; training director of M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling and Practicum Coordinator for the Department of Educational Psychology for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2001-04; and training director for Oakton Community College Substance Abuse Counselor Training Program from 1997-99. He has also held several faculty positions, including his current position as a professor of rehabilitation counseling in the School of Interdisciplinary Health Professions at NIU, as well as associate and assistant professor and instructor at other institutions.

Priester received his bachelor's degree in French from the University of Iowa; his master's degree in counselor education: rehabilitation counseling from the University of Iowa; and his doctoral degree in counseling psychology from Loyola University in Chicago.

Grybovych has served as interim chief of staff for the Office of the President at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) since 2022. Previously, she was associate dean for academic affairs for the College of Education at UNI from 2020-22; head of the Department of Health, Recreation and Community Services at UNI from 2018-20; division chair of the Division of Leisure, Youth and Human Services for UNI from 2017-18; an associate professor and assistant professor in the Department of Health, Recreation and Community Services at UNI since 2008; project manager for the Sustainable Tourism and Environment Program from 2004-18; instructor and graduate assistant at UNI from 2004-08; student teaching assistant for the Center for Educational Technology for UNI from 2004-06; regional sales assistant for Japan Tobacco International Company Ukraine from 2003-04; radio DJ for the Western Pole Radio Station in Ukraine from 2002-04; tourism manager for Mishel Travel Agency in Ukraine in 2002; radio DJ for 101FM in Ukraine from 1998-2000; and information center assistant for the Small Business and Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk Region in Ukraine from 1998-2000.

Grybovych received her bachelor's degree from the Institute of Economics and Law in Ukraine; her master's degree from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and her doctoral degree in education from UNI.
