Musser Named Interim Chair of WIU Department of Biological Sciences

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Western Illinois University Department of Biological Sciences Professor Richard O. Musser has been named the department's interim chair, effective July 1.

Musser has been a professor at WIU since 2012, and he previously served as interim department chair from 2016-18. He was an associate professor at WIU from 2007-12; an assistant professor at WIU from 2003-07; a research associate at the University of Arizona from 2001-03; an instructor at Pima Community College in Arizona in 2003; a visiting scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Germany in 2006; a visiting scientist at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland in 2001. He also served as a high school science teacher at West Prairie High School from 2021-22.

Musser received his bachelor's degree from Park College in Missouri; his master's degree from Southeast Missouri State and his doctoral degree from the University of Arkansas.
