MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - Western Illinois University has recently renewed its alignment with the Human Resource Management program under the guidelines set forth by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates.

Globally, more than 500 programs across approximately 425 educational institutions have earned recognition from SHRM for aligning with their guidelines and templates, which delineate the key HR content areas to be covered in HR programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. These guidelines, originally crafted in 2006, and later revalidated in 2010, 2013 and 2017, are part of SHRM's Academic Initiative. This initiative aims to establish HR education standards within university business schools and assist universities in designing degree programs that adhere to these standards.

WIU's Interim Director of the School of Management and Marketing Jessica Lin praised this alignment as an embodiment of WIU's institutional distinctiveness.

"It reflects the strong connection between the content taught in WIU's HR courses and industry standards. Susan Stewart and Bruce Western, faculty members of the HRM program, have played pivotal roles in the program's success. This achievement holds particular significance as WIU's HRM program is currently celebrating its overall success, making this renewal an additional cause for celebration," Lin said.

WIU's HRM program is prominently listed on SHRM's HR Program Directory.
