Rouse Named 23-24 Lincoln Academy of Illinois' Student Laureate

MACOMB, IL - - Jordan Rouse, a senior History major at Western Illinois University and Macomb resident, has been named the 2023-24 Lincoln Academy of Illinois' Student Laureate Award for Fall 2023. Rouse's achievements stood out amongst a pool of impressive nominees.

Throughout his time at WIU, Rouse has been an outstanding leader, serving as president of multiple organizations, including the Inter-Hall Council, National Residence Hall Honorary and WIU Food Pantry. He has also maintained a 4.0 GPA as a member of the Centennial Honors College and held leadership positions in the WIU Phi Kappa Phi honor society, WIU Phi Alpha Theta history honor society and WIU Honors Council.

Rouse's dedication to his studies and extracurricular activities has earned him the WIU Presidential Scholarship and Eureka College Reagan Fellowship. Additionally, he has contributed to a Chicago 1919 Race Riot Commemoration Project as a student researcher and editor.

The prestigious award, presented annually to an outstanding senior from each of Illinois' four-year degree-granting institutions, honors a student's overall academic excellence and participation in extracurricular activities. This award recognizes exceptional leadership and a desire to make a difference in the world through civic engagement. The award encourages diverse fields of study to be considered for this honor. As a student laureate, the representative is recognized for outstanding contributions to campus life and beyond, in pursuit of the betterment of humanity.
