Macomb Youngsters to Learn "The Moral of the Story"
September 3, 2003

MACOMB, IL - - Preschool and kindergarten students and their parents can learn about moral lessons in a three-part series to be held Saturday, Sept. 6, Oct. 11 and Nov. 15 at the Macomb Public Library, 235 S. Lafayette Street.
Sue Martinelli-Fernandez, an associate professor of philosophy and religious studies at Western Illinois University, has designed the program "Ethics in Literature: The Moral of the Story" to teach children how to be good people with the help of their parents and friends.
"The program is the result of a partnership we have arranged between the University and the Macomb Public Library," said Martinelli, a co-director of Western's Program for the Study of Ethics. "I'm looking forward to the challenge of taking the complex study of ethics to a fun and practical level that children can understand. A key component will be parent involvement. This program has been developed with the hard work and expertise of Dennis Danowski of the Macomb Public Library."
The three-part series is free. For more information or to register, contact the library at 309/833-2714.
