Wind Energy Seminar in Mattoon

MACOMB, IL Wind power production presents an opportunity to diversify the agricultural economy, the backbone of many rural communities. It also helps protect the environment by making use of a clean and green renewable source of energy.
The Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs (IIRA) at Western Illinois University will host the seminar Harvesting Wind in Illinois from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 16 at Lake Land College in Mattoon.
The seminar is co-sponsored by The Energy Foundation and Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation. The daylong workshop will provide information for anyone interested in generating electricity from wind or for those interested in learning more about the subject. Topics to be covered include the status and potential of wind energy, requirements for large and small turbines, resources and incentives available, policy issues and examples of projects in Illinois and neighboring states.
Registration for the April 16 seminar is $15, which includes lunch and a wind energy handbook. To ensure a space at the seminar, pre-registration is encouraged. Registration forms are available at www.value-added.org under Upcoming Events or by calling 309/298-2423.
A future wind energy seminar will be held at Giant City State Lodge near Carbondale Friday, May 14.
