Demoracy in Africa Presentation April 28

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Indigenous Africa and Diaspora Discourse Project will present Fulbright Fellow Habu Mohammed from political science and the Program of African Studies at Northwestern University who will speak from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 28 in Stipes Hall 527.

Mohammed will present “Democracy in Africa: Contemporary Nigerian Democracy Experiment and the Local Government Elections in a Post-Military Era.” Mohammed’s lecture is co-sponsored by the Visiting Lecturer Committee and department of political science.

The spring series concludes Wednesday, April 28 with a noon to 1:30 p.m. discussion in Stipes Hall 527 with Taibat Oba AbdulRaheem of the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, speaking on “African Traditions of Health and Healing Practices.” AbdulRaheem’s visit is sponsored by the Visiting Lecturer Committee and the departments of psychology and community health and health services management.
