DiGrino Named Associate COEHS Dean

MACOMB, IL – Nick DiGrino, recreation, park and tourism administration (RPTA) chair at Western Illinois University, has been named associate dean for human services in Western’s College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) by Dean Bonnie Smith-Skripps.

DiGrino has served as WesternÂ’s RPTA chair and professor since 1986. He joined the RPTA faculty as assistant professor in 1976. DiGrino has also served as coordinator of the leisure services program at Iowa State University and as the director of parks and recreation for the city of Eastlake (OH). He has authored and co-authored numerous articles for professional publications and presented internationally. In 1992, DiGrino was honored with the Garrett G. Eppley Distinguished Alumni Award from Indiana University, and he has served on the governing boards of several state and national professional organizations.

“Dr. DiGrino’s wealth of experience as a faculty member and as an administrator, his involvement in numerous University-wide blue ribbon committees, his service on internal academic review committees and his in-depth experience and success with accreditation processes will contribute to the leadership capacity for the college,” said Smith-Skripps.

DiGrino received his bachelorÂ’s degree from Kent State University, his masterÂ’s degree from Indiana University and his doctorate from Texas A&M University.
