Minority Internship Program Application Deadline March 21

MACOMB, IL - - The application deadline for Western Illinois University students interested in participating in the Minority Internship Program this summer and fall is Monday, March 21.
The Minority Internship Program, funded by a grant underwritten by the Illinois Board of Higher Education, provides a stipend during the internship semester. The internship allows fulltime junior, senior or graduate minority students the opportunity to gain valuable learning experience in a real work environment in their potential career field.
Interns generally have the opportunity to interact with decision-makers to develop personal interests and expand career opportunities while gaining academic credit. Interns must work 30-35 hours per week and attend monthly meetings. Fulltime interns are appointed for a minimum of one academic term and are paid $1,000 monthly. Since most interns are not paid by their employer, the program's stipend assists the student with expenses. In addition, academic and moral support are provided by the program administrators.
Applying undergraduates must have a minimum 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Graduate students must have a minimum 3.25 GPA. The program is designed specifically for African American, Hispanic American, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Native American and Alaskan Native students who are U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents.
