Geology Students to Present Research

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University geology department will host four undergraduate research presentations at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 in Tillman Hall 101. The presentations by senior geology majors will highlight research topics from Nain, Labrador and throughout the United States.

Dan Russin (Carbondale, IL) will present “Petrographic and Geochemical Analysis of the Metamorphic History of Proterozoic Mafic Dike Swarms Near Nain, Labrador.” Assistant geology professor Kyle Mayborn advised Russin throughout his research. Mayborn also advised Dakota Kubler (Mount Morris, IL), who will present “Petrologic and Geochemical Investigation of the Flat Tops Volcanic Field Near Yampa, Colorado,” and Patric Ray (Carpentersville, IL), who will present “Glaciofluvial Facies of the West Chicago Moraine, McHenry County, IL.” Lucas Kline (Farina, IL), advised by associate geology professor Steve Bennet, will present “Investigation of the Contribution of Springs to a Small Stream in Northern Warren County, IL.”
