MACOMB, IL - - Andrea Wierather (Carthage, IL), a Western Illinois University sophomore early childhood education major, was recently crowned Miss Hancock County 2005.

“I wanted to run for Miss Hancock County because I felt that the pageant was a worthwhile experience that would help me with a lot of my future endeavors,” Wierather said.

A 2003 graduate of Carthage High School, Wierather has been employed in the WIU financial aid office since 2004. She is also a member of the Westernette Dance Line which performs at football and basketball games.

She was also named Miss Congeniality by the contestants in the pageant.

Wierather believes that she is a great role model for her peers and for younger generations, and she knows she can represent Hancock County in a respectable manner.

“Winning the title of Miss Hancock County has meant the world to me, and I am honored that I was chosen to represent Hancock County at the many upcoming local parades and events,” she added.

Wierather will be competing in the Illinois State pageant in January 2006.
