Home Depot Exec Named Ferguson Lecturer

MACOMB, IL – The northern vice president for Home Depot will present the 16th annual Ferguson Lecture Wednesday, Oct. 5 for Western Illinois University's College of Business and Technology (CBT) Week.

The 2 p.m. lecture by Troy Rice will be held in the University Union Grand Ballroom. It is open free to the public. As northern vice president he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of more than 650 stores across 23 states.

Rice began his career at Home Depot in 1990 as an associate manager. He advanced through a series of store leadership positions before spending five years in Dallas, TX as a district manager and then being promoted to the position of regional vice president of operations for the southwest division.

In August 2001 he was named to division president of the northwest division with a responsibility for store operations covering a nine-state region. From August 2002 to May 2004 he served as senior vice president of operations before being named to his current position.

The Robert and Mary Ferguson Lecture Series was established in 1989 to honor Dr. Robert Ferguson and his wife, Mary. Dr. Ferguson was a business education instructor at WIU from 1947 until his retirement in 1986. He also served as business education chair for more than 20 years.
