MACOMB, IL -- Dana Moon, a Western Illinois University alumna and current academic adviser for the computer science department, has been named assistant to the dean of the College of Education and Human Services (COEHS), according to COEHS Dean Bonnie Smith-Skripps.

As assistant to the dean, Moon will serve as a key member of the COEHS administrative team, with direct responsibility for coordination of publications and promotional efforts for the college. She will work closely with the 13 academic units within the college to recruit and retain a diverse and well-qualified student base, assist with constituent relations and promote COEHS achievements. Along with coordination of major college events, Moon will serve as liaison to Alumni Programs, assist with the college’s development efforts and work closely with the WIU director of marketing to promote COEHS and its many initiatives.

“Dana’s outstanding marketing background, coupled with exemplary performance as a WIU admissions counselor and academic adviser provides the foundation necessary to accurately and effectively convey to our many constituents the significant role COEHS plays throughout our region, nation and the world,” said Smith-Skripps. “I was impressed with Dana’s in-depth understanding of WIU’s core values and priorities along with her insight regarding how those values translated to academics, research and co-curricular involvements.”

Along with her current duties, Moon is completing an Affirmative Action Administrative Internship that has immersed her in the First Year Experience initiative. Moon holds a bachelor of business degree as well as an MBA, with an emphasis in marketing management, from Western.
