Agriculture Department Open House

MACOMB, IL – At Western Illinois University, students in the agriculture program have exceptional opportunities to learn about and experience many areas of the discipline outside of the classroom.

Prospective freshman and transfer students are invited to attend Western’s department of agriculture’s open house Friday, Feb. 24 to learn more about what WIU has to offer. Department faculty, current students and alumni will be on hand to answer questions and lead tours of the department’s facilities and labs, the campus, the University farm and Livestock Center, the bull test and ram test stations and swine facilities. Participants are also invited to attend a dinner, compliments of the Crop Protection Services of Galesburg and Cargill Meat Solutions of Beardstown, with faculty and students. The open house and dinner are free of charge.

The open house begins with registration at 12:30 p.m. at the WIU Livestock Center, directly north of Western’s campus.

Registration - 12:30 – 1 p.m., WIU Livestock Center. Welcome - 1-1:30 p.m., WIU Livestock Center
Student Panel - 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., WIU Livestock Center
Tours - 2:30 – 5 p.m. (University Farm, Kerr Farm, research labs, bull and ram test stations, swine facilities, residence halls,agriculture-related fraternities)
Academic/Transfer
Discussion - 5:15 – 5:45 p.m., Knoblauch Hall
Alumni Panel - 5:45 – 6:15 p.m., Knoblauch Hall
Dinner - 6:15 p.m., Knoblauch Hall

To register by the Friday, Feb. 17 deadline, go online to www.wiu.edu/ag. Send your name, address, daytime phone number, e-mail address, the name of the school you are currently attending, anticipated date of attending Western and number attending the open house and dinner.
