Nominations for Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Due February 24

MACOMB, IL - - Nominations for Western Illinois UniversityÂ’s 2007 Distinguished Faculty Lecturer will be accepted through Friday, Feb. 24 by the selection committee.

Nominations may be made by faculty, staff and students. Self-nominations are also welcome.

The award is open to tenured full professors who have distinguished themselves in all areas of professional life, including teaching, scholarly/creative activity and service; with the greatest emphasis placed in the area of scholarly/creative activity. The nominee should also be able to deliver a stimulating presentation on a topic of interest to a general audience.

The person selected will deliver the Distinguished Faculty Lecture in Spring 2007, and will be recognized as part of the stage party at the Spring and Fall Commencement Ceremonies, Spring and Fall Honors Convocation and the New Student Convocation.

Send letters of nomination, addressing the nomineeÂ’s qualifications based on the above criteria, to Paul Paccione, School of Music, 121 Browne Hall, by the Feb. 24 deadline.

Nominees will then be asked to submit a vita, a one-page narrative summary of the proposed topic and letters of support from two references. The deadline for submitting supporting materials in Friday, March 24. These materials should also be sent to Paccione.

Members of the Distinguished Faculty Lecture committee include Martha Barclay, dietetics, fashion merchandising and hospitality; Kenneth Hawkinson, communication; Maurice Kellogg, elementary education emeritus professor; Paul Nollen, biological sciences emeritus professor; Mohammad Siddiqi, English; Tara Westerhold, economics; and Paccione, chair.
