Essie Manuel Rutledge Reception May 3

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University community members are invited to celebrate 30 years of contributions and achievements at a reception held in honor of Essie Manuel Rutledge from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 in the University Union Lincoln Room. Brief remarks will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Rutledge, professor of sociology and former chair of African American studies, joined Western’s sociology and anthropology department in 1985. She will retire Thursday, June 1 with a long list of accomplishments in areas including social psychology, black women and families, aging and social gerontology.
