MACOMB, IL - - Macomb Mayor Mick Wisslead presented an official proclamation at Western Illinois University today (Oct. 4), which announced Oct. 4 as Tracy A. Knight Day.

Knight, an associate psychology professor at Western Illinois University, will deliver the fourth annual College of Arts and Sciences John Hallwas Liberal Arts Lecture at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the University Union Grand Ballroom. His presentation, “Nothing but the Mystery: Wonder, Meaning and the Liberal Arts,” will discuss the dramatic cultural shifts that have followed rapid globalization, astounding growth in technology and a shift from an industrial to a knowledge-based society.

In the proclamation Wisslead noted Knight’s service to the community through his work at Western’s psychology clinic; his role in educating future leaders through teaching and supervising graduate students; and his work as a fiction writer of two novels and more than 25 short stories.

“I encourage all citizens of this city to join me in recognizing Dr. Knight’s many accomplishments and contributions and congratulate him on his appointment as this year’s John Hallwas Liberal Arts Lecturer,” Wisslead said.
