Fall Journalism Day October 30

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University will host its Fall Journalism Day from 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Oct. 30.

An 11 a.m.- noon panel discussion, open free to the public, on “Audiences Who Don’t Read Print Anymore: New News in a Climate of Change,” will be held at the University Union Sandburg Theatre. Panelist include Roland Klose, editor of the Illinois Times newspaper (Springfield); Rajah Maples, a news anchor and reporter for KHQA TV Channel-7 (Quincy); and Herb Trix, news director for WVIK-FM radio (Quad Cities).

Area high school students will also receive critique about their school newspapers during morning sessions in the University Union Capital Room.

Sponsors for the event include Western’s Society of Professional Journalists (W-SPJ), the department of English and journalism, and the Western’s College of Arts and Sciences.
