Jim Ryan Named Honorary Member of Western's LEJA Advisory Group

MACOMB, IL – Former Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan has been named an honorary member of Western Illinois University’s Law Enforcement and Justice Administration (LEJA) Professional Advisory Group.

The LEJA Professional Advisory Group, established in 2000, is an advisory council comprised of criminal justice professionals from corrections, law enforcement agencies, state organizations, courts and the private sector. According to Dennis Bowman, LEJA associate professor and LEJA Professional Advisory Group coordinator, the group meets once a year at WesternÂ’s Macomb campus to discuss such issues as law enforcement curriculum and training and education initiatives. Members also provide guidance to the LEJA department on a variety of issues, serve as guest speakers and provide career and internship opportunities to Western LEJA students.

Ryan, now a professor at Benedictine University in Lisle (IL) and counsel to the law firm of Ryan and Kavvadias in Naperville (IL), served two terms as Illinois attorney general from 1995 until 2003. Before serving as attorney general, Ryan served as DuPage CountyÂ’s StateÂ’s Attorney for 10 years and also worked as an assistant stateÂ’s attorney. He also served as a lawyer for the firm of Ryan and Darrah.
