Chicago Trib, Political Reform Reps to Discuss Election Results
November 30, 2006

MACOMB, IL After the onslaught of negative campaign ads and constant coverage of the 2006 election, many are happy to blissfully listen to the news once again.
As tempting as it is to forget the seemingly never-ending coverage, Cindi Canary, director of the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform, and Ray Long, statehouse reporter for the Chicago Tribune, will examine the medias treatment during Election 06: A Media Post-Mortem at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 in Simpkins Hall 27 on the Western Illinois University-Macomb campus.
The featured speakers have experience dealing with the world of politics. Canary helped to pass the 2003 Illinois State Officials and Employees Ethics Act, while Long was the first vice president of the Association of Capitol Reporters and Editors.
Election 06: A Media Post-Mortem, which is open free to the public, is co-sponsored by Westerns Society of Professional Journalists, the Visiting Lectures Committee, and Westerns English and journalism department.
