Arts and Sciences Open House Rescheduled to December 12

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois UniversityÂ’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) will honor eight faculty members who averaged 34 years of service and two civil service employees at a Tuesday, Dec. 12 Holiday Open House in the University Union Lamoine Room. This has been rescheduled from the original Dec. 1 date, which was canceled when the University was closed because of a winter storm.
A social hour begins at 4 p.m. with a cash bar. The program honoring the retirees begins at 4:45 p.m.
Dec. 31 retirees include William Faulkner, sociology and anthropology (1966), 40 years of service; David Voss, mathematics (1971), 35 years of service; Morris Vos, foreign languages and literatures (1971), 35 years of service; Tom Joswick, English and journalism (1972), 34 years of service; Fred Caspell, geography (1969-1977) and geology (1985-2006), 33 years of service; Paul Mundschenk, philosophy and religious studies (1975), 31 years of service; and Hallie Lemon (1983), English and journalism, 23 years of service. Yan Lwin, physics (1965), who retired July 31 after 41 years of service, also will be recognized.
Janice Mix, who has worked in the deanÂ’s office since 1987, will be honored as the College Civil Service award recipient, which includes a cash award of $250 and a plaque. Mix, who also is retiring in December, began working at Western in 1980 as a secretary in womenÂ’s athletics.
Henry “Hank” Courtois (1992), assistant facilities manager at Western’s Kibbe Life Science Research Station, is retiring after 14 years of service.
