MACOMB, IL -- With spring just around the corner, it's time get moving and clean what "Old Man Winter" left behind.

That's exactly what VIP (Volunteer, Improve and Preserve) Days at Western Illinois University's Horn Field Campus wants the community to do. The first VIP Day will be held from 1-4 p.m. Friday, March 23. Other VIP Days are scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 1 and 1-4 p.m. Friday, April 20. Refreshments will be provided each day.

According to Horn Field Campus Program Coordinator Mindy Harpman, volunteers of all ages should be ready and willing to work hard, get dirty and have fun. Volunteers at VIP Days will help with improving and preserving trails and other spring clean-up projects such as cleaning flowerbeds.

"We are really trying to get the trails cleared so they can be opened back up for another season," said Harpman.

"Horn Field Campus is kept beautiful through a wonderful team of maintenance personnel, but it's through the efforts of our volunteers that really make the facility great," added Alex Fuller, Horn Field Campus graduate assistant.

Horn Field Campus is located south of Macomb on China Road. From South Johnson Street (past Macomb High School), turn right on China Road and follow the road one-quarter of a mile to the Horn Field Campus entrance.
