Long-Time WIU Employee Dies

MACOMB, IL -- Scott Hutinger, a computer forensic in Western Illinois University's Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood (formerly Macomb Projects), died at McDonough District Hospital Friday, June 1.

Hutinger was born May 21, 1958 to Paul Hutinger, a former WIU professor, now living in Florida, and Patti Hutinger, director of the Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood. Hutinger's wife, Dora, is an employee in the WIU English department.

He received his bachelor's degree in law enforcement from WIU in 1982 and his master's degree in computer science from Western in 1993. During his undergraduate years, Hutinger was a member of Western's swim team. He began working at Macomb Projects in October 1982. Hutinger was a certified flight instructor, avid pilot and skydiver.

Memorials should be made to Hutinger's children, in care of the Kelsey and Jordan Bucholtz Educational Fund at First State Bank of Western Illinois in Macomb.

A date is being finalized for a memorial service celebrating Hutinger's life.
