MACOMB, IL - - Lance Ternasky, professor of educational and interdisciplinary studies (EIS), has been appointed interim associate dean for the College of Education and Human Services (COEHS), effective August. 1, according to COEHS Dean Bonnie Smith-Skripps.

Ternasky replaces Dan Clay who left Western for a position at Auburn University. Ternasky has taught in the EIS department since 1995 and served as chair of the department prior to serving as interim associate dean from 2005-2006. His teaching areas include philosophy of education; historical and philosophical foundations; and multicultural and social foundations.

Ternasky received his bachelor's and master's degrees from University of the Redlands (CA) and earned a Ph.D. from Cornell University. Prior to joining Western's EIS faculty, he served as associate dean of admissions, acting health science program director and a faculty member at the University of the Redlands. While at Western, Ternasky has conducted districtwide evaluations for Illinois school districts and served on research and design teams for the Illinois State Board of Education and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education.

Ternasky will assume academic program responsibilities for the college, provide oversight on grants and contracts, and promote partnerships with schools and agencies.

"We welcome Lance back into our administrative ranks, and look forward to the beginning of a new academic year," said Smith-Skripps.
