MOLINE, IL -- The fourth annual Quad Cities Volunteer Expo (formerly called the People-2-People Expo), organized and hosted by Western Illinois University-Quad Cities recreation, park and tourism administration (RPTA) students, will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, IA.

The volunteer expo, coordinated by students in RPTA Associate Professor Marcia Carter's
Fundraising and Volunteering in Leisure Services class, will feature more than 30 Quad Cities-area volunteer agencies including the Special Olympics, Girl Scouts, ARC of Rock Island County, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Figge Art Museum. Western marketing and finance students assist with promotion and publicity.

According Carter, the expo is designed to allow organizations seeking volunteers to find support, as well as to provide an opportunity for interested volunteers to learn about ways to be involved in community activities and projects.

The event is open free to the public and will include refreshments, entertainment and free admission to the Figge Art Museum during the event. In addition, sponsors and other organizations will award door prizes.

For more information or to participate, contact Carter at MJ-Carter2@wiu.edu or 309/762-9481, ext 322.

*EDITOR'S NOTE: Students are available for interviews by contacting Carter or Ann Walsh, marketing and finance associate professor, at 309/762-9481.
