WIU RPTA Graduate Receives Senior Fulbright Award

MACOMB, IL -- Richard Schroth, a 1972 Western Illinois University recreation, park and tourism administration (RPTA) graduate, has been selected as a U.S. Senior Fulbright Scholar by the U.S. State Department.

Schroth, the CEO of Executive Insights in Rockville, MD, is considered to be one of the world's top experts in technology, business strategy and strategic sourcing. As part of his five-year Fulbright Senior Scholar term, Schroth will lead a major technology and public policy strategy effort at The National University of Ireland in Galway. While in Ireland, Schroth will serve as Distinguished Visiting Professor and will be responsible for developing the strategic initiatives for the Center for Innovation and Structural Change and the Digital Enterprise Research Institute.

He co-founded and directed CSC Vanguard; and he has more than 25 years of experience as a senior vice president and chief technology officer for the Marriott Corporation, executive vice president of CSC and chief technology officer and president of technology management consulting for Perot Systems. Schroth has served for four years as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Wharton School of Business and was a member of the Executive Education Faculty at AT&T for six years. In 2002, Schroth co-authored the book "How Companies Lie. Why Enron is Just the Tip of the Iceberg."

Schroth received his bachelor's degree from WIU, his master's degree from the University of Illinois and his doctorate from Indiana University.
