Garden Lecture Series

MACOMB, IL -- Chestnuts are not just a winter treat from abroad; they can grow in your garden right here as well.

The Western Illinois University Libraries, as part of its Gardening Lecture Series, will host "Growing Chestnuts for Fun and Profit" by WIU Agriculture Professor Tom Green at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 on the third level of the Leslie F. Malpass Library. The lecture is open free to the public; free parking will be available in Lot 19, which is located directly across the street from the Malpass Library.

Green, a WIU alumnus who earned his Ph.D. at Iowa State University, teaches urban forestry courses at Western. He is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture, the Illinois Arborist Association, the National Arbor Day Foundation, the International Ornamental Crabapple Society, the International Oak Society and the Illinois Forestry Association.
