Pendergast Honored for 30 Years of Service

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's athletic training education program will host a celebration to honor Mike "Pendy" Pendergast for his 30 years of service as the head athletic trainer at WIU.

The dinner reception will be held Saturday, April 19 as part of the 2008 Leathernecks Football spring game. Former students, friends and colleagues are invited to the game and to attend the dinner reception and ceremony following the game. There is an opportunity to tailgate before the game with Pendy and share many of your fond memories.

Pendergast started his athletic training career at Western in 1977 as a graduate assistant. He was named head athletic trainer in 1978 and served as interim program director from
1986-87 and 1990-91. An endowed scholarship, the Mike Pendergast Scholarship, has been established in his honor.

The spring game begins at 1 p.m. April 19, followed by the 6 p.m. dinner reception in the Olson Hall dining room. Reservations for the dinner, which is $20, as well as scholarship contributions, may be sent to Renee Polubinsky at Brophy Hall 220B, Macomb IL 61455.
