MACOMB, IL -- The excitement, enthusiasm and energy surrounding Election 2008 will continue Tuesday, Nov. 4 on the Western Illinois University-Macomb campus with an Election Night Party.

The event, which is open free to the WIU campus community, will be held from 6-11 p.m. in the University Union Heritage Room. Election results will be broadcast on five screens, and pizza and other refreshments will be served. There will also be trivia contests and prize drawings throughout the evening.

"We invite the entire WIU campus to join us for this nonpartisan event," said organizer Mary Kubasak of the Office of Student Activities (OSA) Volunteer Services. "This is a great way to get together with friends and celebrate our rights as citizens and as a democracy."

The 2008 Election Night Party is partially sponsored by a grant from the Illinois Campus Compact Raise Your Voice Initiative and is underwritten by the Student Government Association and the OSA. Other sponsors include the American Democracy Project, WIU department of political science, Campus Greens, College Democrats, College Republicans, WAVE (Western's All Volunteer Effort), Pi Sigma Alpha and the University Union Board.

In addition, registered McDonough County voters are reminded that early voting opportunities continue today through Thursday, Oct. 23 and from Monday, Oct. 27 to Thursday, Oct. 30 in the University Union Concourse. The Union voting center will be open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
