MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University will host an open house for prospective physics, engineering and architecture students and their parents from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 in Currens Hall 206.

The open house will highlight options available for students who come to Western Illinois University to earn a B.S. degree in physics, an engineering degree through Western's dual-degree physics/math and engineering program, Western's 2+2 pre-engineering program and an architecture degree through the 1+3 pre-architecture program, said WIU Physics Professor James Rabchuk, event coordinator.

Scheduled activities include a water bottle rocket competition in the morning, with prizes given to those who create the best rocket designs and who reach the greatest height, and a pizza lunch for all attendants. Afternoon sessions will include speakers from the pre-engineering program at Western, representatives from the Engineering College at University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a question-and-answer based panel discussion consisting of alumni from Western's pre-engineering and physics programs.

The registration deadline for the program is Friday, Oct 24. For more information or to register, contact Rabchuk at (309) 298-2577 or JA-Rabchuk@wiu.edu.
