COEHS Dean Interviews Dec. 2-3, Dec. 4-5, Dec. 8-9

MACOMB, IL -- The final three candidates for the Western Illinois University College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) dean position will be on WIU's campuses for interviews Tuesday-Wednesday, Dec. 2-3, Thursday-Friday, Dec. 4-5 and Monday-Tuesday, Dec. 8-9, according to Inessa Levi, College of Arts and Sciences dean and chair of the search committee.

George Fero, education professor at McKendree University (Lebanon, IL), will interview Dec. 2-3 on the WIU-Macomb and and WIU-Quad Cities campuses. Open sessions will be held from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 in Stipes Hall 501 on the WIU-Macomb campus and from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 in Room 102C at the WIU-Quad Cities 60th Street campus.

Stephen Freeman, professor and counseling department head, Texas A&M (Commerce, TX), will interview Dec. 4-5 on both campuses. Open sessions will be held from 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 in Room 102AB at the WIU-Quad Cities 60th Street campus and from 2-3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 in Horrabin Hall 1 on the WIU-Macomb campus.

Deborah Rodgers, associate dean for student services, University of Oklahoma, will interview Dec. 8-9 on the WIU-Macomb and WIU-QC campuses. Open sessions will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8 in Horrabin Hall 1 on the WIU-Macomb campus and from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 in Room 102AB at the WIU-Quad Cities 60th Street campus.

Fero has served as a professor of education at McKendree University since June 2001. He also served as chair of the division of education, health and human performance at McKendree; as assistant dean at Kent State University; and as the dean of the School of Education at Southern Arkansas University. He received his bachelor's degree from Youngstown State, his master's degree from Ohio State University and his Ed.D. from Northern Arizona University.

Freeman has served as a professor and department head of the counseling department at Texas A&M since June 2004. He served as chair of the department of counselor education at California State University-Sacramento and as program director of the counseling and development program and a member of the clinical graduate faculty in the department of family science at Texas Women's University. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from West Texas State University, an associate of applied science degree in nursing from Amarillo College and his Ph.D. from North Texas State University.

Rodgers has served as associate dean for student services at the University of Oklahoma since January 2005 and as chair of the Early Childhood Certification Committee since 2005 and from 1995 to 2004. She has served as assistant production manager of the Journal of Research in Childhood Education, and assistant director of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Mathematics and Science Summer Laboratory Program for Teachers K-3 at Auburn University and director of the University of Northern Iowa Day Care Center. She received her bachelor's degree from Northwest Missouri State, her master's degree from the University of Northern Iowa and her Ph.D. from Auburn University.

Rori Carson, assistant dean of the WIU College of Education and Human Services, interviewed Nov. 19-20.
