"Tales from Grad School" Topic of Feb. 6 Seminar

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University alumnus G W Douglas (B.S. Spring '05) will present "Tales from Grad School: Making the Transition to a Post-baccalaureate Education" at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6 in Currens Hall 202 on the WIU-Macomb campus.
Douglas' seminar is presented to inform and encourage students seeking to attend graduate or medical schools, and he will briefly discuss research he is conducting.
A biology major and chemistry minor, Douglas is currently pursuing his M.D. in the department of surgery and his Ph.D. in the department of biochemistry and molecular genetics at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). His research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and presented at professional conferences. He is also an active member of several professional societies, including the American Physician Scientists Association (APSA), American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) and American Chemical Society (ACS).
He participated in undergraduate research at Western Illinois and received an Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity Grant from the College of Arts and Sciences. Douglas worked with chemistry professors Jenq-Kuen "Jack" Huang and Lisa Wen and biology associate professors Richard Musser and Jeff Engel.
